Kareem - War letter

Gallipoli 25th November 1915 Hello Mr Kyne It is Winter and we are losing all our campaigns because our commanding officer is being kind of dumb.Our guns are frozen stiff so we can’t open fire on the enemy instead we have to jump into the Turkish trenches and use our guns as swords or throw Jam tin bombs at them.We don’t have a lot of Jam tin bombs because everybody is too cold to make them. When you sleep you have two options to sleep with your mouth closed or to keep it open and swallow stuff.Me and my friend Mathew had some fun with the commanding officer.Last Summer we loaded his rifler with bully beef so we watched as it backfired in his face. Since then i have been the commanding officer.It is now Summer again some troops are injuring themselves on purpose so they can get evacuated. That’s all for now. From Kareem
